We departed Arequipa early and traveled over the Andean mountains to Colca Canyon. We had originally planned to do another trek there, but because of our illness we had to cancel (postpone?). It was a long drive but very scenic. The halfway point was a spectacular volcano overlook at 15,000 ft. En route we saw both domesticated and wild camelids of all types: llamas, alpacas, vicunas, and guanacos. We arrived at our lodging, a rather remote but beautiful resort, in the afternoon and enjoyed a walk and dinner before bed.
